losing a friend

So earlier today I found out that a friend of mine from High School passed away in Atlanta. His name was Allen "Smoke" Blash. He was 24 and died due to gunshot wounds to his face and stomach. It still makes me shudder and my stomach lurch to even think about it.
I feel really depressed & sad right now. I've been trying to distract myself with other things but nothing really seems to be working. Yeah, I'll be distracted for a few, but then my mind is back on Allen again. :-\

I'm not going to surgarcoat things and say that we stayed good friends after graduation. Unfortunately, I lost touch with him after HS (as is the case of many people I went to HS with with the exception of a few good friends--yeah I'm friends with some HS friends on fb, but those are more of passing acquaintances more than anything else, once again with the exception of the handful that I do properly stay in touch with).
But the thing is, in regards to Allen is that when I would be having trailing thoughts about HS, he would almost always come into my mind.
And this was b/c back in 10th grade, I had a crush on this student that had moved here in 8th grade, and I had been crushing on him since 9th grade-he ended up moving 1/2way through 9th...Okay anyways, Allen and I had physical science together in 10th grade & when we were talking once (which was a miracle for me back then, since I was so painfully shy)-he was being his usual goofball self and managed to figure out that I was crushing on this guy. And ever since that day, & all througout HS, he would call me "Mrs. Oh" (that was the guys last name-he was Korean, btw) hahaha-God, it still makes me laugh to think about that. And that was just our little joke. I'm pretty sure he never told anyone that I liked the guy. And whenever he would call me that, I would just be like "Oh my God, shut up!!" *embarrassed* but I would always laugh. :]

It was in that grade that I found out that he had moved here from Chicago. When exactly, I don't remember, but I do remember this much. That he loved it here. The reason being that in Chicago, I guess his family wasn't that well off so they had to live in the more ghetto area. And I remember him telling me that moving here had been a great thing for him because they were a lot better off here financially and they could afford to live in a much better arrangement than they had in the city. That they were out of the ghetto. I looked him up on fb and saw that he had been going to Atlanta Technical College there. Had I known he had an fb, I would have added him ages ago. He was one of those guys I would have loved to keep in touch with & I swear I'm not just saying all this b/c he passed away. I mean every word of it.
This guy had hopes and dreams and goals and they were all cut short b/c he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. He didn't even have the gun! The scuffle was between the other 2 guys...dear God. *shakes head*

Man, I really, truly miss him. It just hurts my heart & I just want to cry right now.

I hope God grants you a wonderful place in Heaven, man. You deserve it.
Rest in Peace.
Much Love,
Sarah

I got this pic from a friends fb album-I cropped her out in respect of her privacy.

This next one I got from his own fb. It's small b/c I'm unable to see the full size.
